Knowledge is power is money

There is something tricky about educating people on how to make money. First of all, everyone of us may agree that a dissemination of knowledge is inherent in our nature. We like to teach and show people what we “know”, regardless of whether we get paid to do it or not.

When it comes to teaching people how to make money, however, it is sometimes a matter of choice. It’s a lot like casinos. Casino owners vow never to reveal the secrets of rigging slot machines, which machines pay, or what part of the casino floor slot machines are likely to rake the most money. If it becomes public knowledge, then the casino will be broke by sunset.

Now, let’s look at the other side of the coin. It is a known fact that casinos have the edge over the players. Losing money in slot machines is 90 percent more likely to happen than bringing home a single dollar. That is why a lot of people have a love and hate relationship with gambling. When they win, they get addicted. When they lose, they blame it on machines being so rigged and cheating them. The question is, what if you learned the secret of winning in slot machines? What if you have overcome the house advantage and figured out how to make a nice profit every time you visit the casino?

If I knew, I would tell you…

How do you spend time like a god?

Time and time again, it would dawn to me that being a writer is being a lifelong student. When you think that you’re done with school and don’t have to deal with books and a plethora of information anymore, you find you are utterly mistaken. I have been writing since a teenager and yet at twenty five, I feel I have just begun my life in school.

Sometimes I blame the Internet for having less time to study now. Sometimes I blame too much social or family life. Sometimes even spending a little more time in front of the vanity mirror after shower makes me guilty. Why be smart when you can be beautiful? In the end, it’s how we spend our time that defines who we are.

If only there is an end to learning.

But then again, if I had all the time in the world to read all the books that I want, to sit down and play some chess, or to put make-up on while watching the DOW climb up or down at CNBC, then I’d be the richest, smartest, prettiest, and most privileged person in the world. In other words, I’d be God.

But I’m not. We only have so much time to live. So when it comes to spending time, nothing is more illuminating than to realize we are humans. If you are not able to accomplish the tasks you are supposed to do in your lifetime, someone else ahead of you will.

How lucky can that person be!
